Our project will take place over the course of three academic years. The scope of our project will focus on the research and design of an unpowered Exoskeleton, as well as some scenario specific testing to ensure its safety and effectiveness for use in the field. The research will consist of surveys of active and former firefighters, as well as a review of the mechanical systems necessary for an Exoskeleton. The research will also dive into how to efficiently and comfortably distribute weight from the back and shoulders into the core. Material research will focus on finding materials that are water and heat resistant.
